Sunday 16th June 2013

The wet weather brought lots of people into The BACH to see the Tapestry Project today!
One of them was Cassius (10) from Whangarei Heads
Steve, Rachel and their two children who were visiting from Auckland over the weekend stopped in and all had a go on the big loom..
Steve with Shanae, 5 years old
 Steve's son, Bailey (14)
This is Ayla. She told me she was 4 years old
 Ayla attends Parua Bay Kindy
 Such concentration!
 Janet Carter from Portland
David watches his daughter Charlotte working at the Kids Loom
David and Sarah Moon, with Charlotte (6)
A precious little angel (Amelia, nearly 3) watching her daddy..

Lovely to see family's working on this project together!
More "locals" ....Great to see them!
Also visiting today was Aafje, her younger brother Dylan and their Mum, Chris from Kensington
Aafie is 7 and Dylan, 6
Aafje was enjoying herself so much she didn't want to leave! I suggest to her Mum that she makes a simple loom, either using card or an old picture frame with nails for the warping. Aafje was VERY HAPPY with that idea! I hope she bring in her weaving creation to share with us when she's done.
Cousins (from left to right) Tom, 12 and Mia, 3
Mia's brother Conner, 5 and Lucy, 14
It's so awesome to see so many people showing interest in The Whangarei Community Tapestry Project. Thanks for calling in....We hope to see you all again soon!

Sunday 2nd June 2013 - Queen's Birthday Weekend

A couple from Waipu. Nancy Jackson, one of the regular volunteer's, chats with the wife while the woman's hubby weaves. People constantly come in and stop to see what happening. We encourage them to give it go! Some do and some won't and some say they will come back when they have more time.
..Making sure he's doing it right...
Great to see men giving it a go!
Now it's her turn. Her husband watches his wife work.
Nancy and Janet chatting while they work
Nancy now helps some young women
Nancy and one of their friends watch them while they weave.
