More September photos....

10 September 2014
Hostess Nancy oversees Jacqui Cleary's 
weaving while friends Caroline Arrowsmith 
from Whananaki and boyfriend, Stephen 
watch her work on the Community Tapestry.
Jacqui is from Hampshire, England and has 
come to Whangarei to housesit for Caroline.
Caroline, originally from England is returning
 to the UK for a holiday and to visit family. 


Jeffery and Petra Milaudi  from Brisbane took
 some time out of their schedule to do a little 
weaving while on their  three-week holiday.

September 2014 update

SEPTEMBER 2014
Luke Tippett (front) and sister Brooke Tippet
from Hawera, Taranaki were up in Whangarei 
 on the 4th September with their Mum and Dad
 looking at property in One Tree Point as they 
are planning on moving  to Northland soon.
 Luke, Brooke and parents stayed with Aunty 
Denise (on right) who lives at One Tree Point.

Tanisha Edwards 13 years old is
 from Whakapara (Ngati Hau)
and Te Hapua (Ngati Kuri)
She enjoyed her time weaving and 
hopes to be able to visit again soon.

First Tapestry Host Morning Tea

First Tapestry Host Morning Tea 
on Saturday the 24th August.
Cappuccinos from Mokaba Cafe
 (adjacent to The Bach) and home-made
lemon muffins were are the menu.
It was an opportunity to say "Good job so far!"
and discuss any weaving issues there were.

SATURDAY 9 AUGUST 2014:
Mini (front left) from China, is staying with
Hannah Ellis (right) and family for 40 weeks.
Hannah, 13 a student at Christian Renewal School.
  Mini, an international student is here in New Zealand 
to learn English and study Hospitality at NorthTec.

SUNDAY 10 AUGUST:
Trelise Davidson (niece of the photographer)
had a go at weaving for the first time
 on the Children's Loom.
Trelise was up in Whangarei visiting family with 
her daddy, Ian Davisdon from Christchurch.
It's great to see the children so 
enthusiastic at giving weaving a go!
Jannis Buchal from Germany has a go 
at weaving while his Mum watches.
Jannis is 6 years old and is on holiday, 
travelling New Zealand with his family.

THURSDAY 21 AUGUST:
Francesco Ulian (8) and little sister Manuela (3) 
from Brazil practice their weaving skills.

Diana Simon (left) from Whangarei Heads
works on the "waves" while Elly, one of
our Tapestry Hosts weaves on the right.
Diana was keen to come back
and do some more weaving soon!

When the computer gobbles my photos!

Sorry for the delay in getting these photos posted!
I had the work computer gobble some of the pics I'd 
taken and was SO upset and frustrated I hadn't been 
able to  post the rest ...until now. Thankfully, one of 
our visitors came back and had taken photos on their
 phone so I was able to arrange getting a copy of them
 to replace the ones I'd lost.So, without further ado..
This is Brittany Trask with her Nana, Barbara Taylor.
Brittany is a student at Auckland University studying
Marine Science and was up visiting her Nana for 
a break. Barbara has previously brought in other 
grand-daughters to see the tapestry and do some weaving.

Saturday 26 July 2014
Denise and Daniel Ellis, are locals and hosting a Japanese
 student. Denise has a go on the mini loom while her husband
 talks to Tapestry Host, Naoko about the community project 
and the students from Japan work on the main tapestry loom.

Aafie Schreuder from Whangarei has already been in to 
see the Tapestry Project and done a little weaving
Aafie is 9 years old and has her own loom.
Her friend Dillon is 7 years old.
He had a go weaving on the mini loom.
Aafie is a very confident weaver for her age!

20 July 2014

School Holidays are nearly over so
 there's been lots of families calling in to 
The BACH to see the Tapestry Project.
 
 Sandra shows young Chloe, from Kamo
 how to weave on one of our mini-looms
with Mum watching from behind her.
 Chloe is 6 years old and attend Huripaka School.
 Chloe enjoys making things and her 
Mum said she does loom band bracelets. 
Dad is going to make Chloe her very own
 loom so she can practice weaving at home!
 Naoko has been working on the 
girl's hair and has finally completed it!
